Bangkok- Foodie Fun #6
July 16,
We started our day with our normal coffee/hot chocolate. We had breakfast in our place – yogurt, cookies – breakfast of champions!! Then we went for a swim of laps. It was cool, but enjoyable. The pool here is 1.2m – that's just about 4ft – deep. The water jets were on. At one end of the pool, they actually shoot up and make it seem more a fountain design. The opposite end is a waterfall of sorts. We used the jets and the waterfall as a kind of massage. It's different and fun. We rinsed off and dried some, headed back to our room and readied.
Around noon we set off to get lunch. Our destination was walkable so that was what we did. It was 2.6km (1.6 miles) there. The walk was unfortunately along a busy, divided road that is under the BTS. So it was a bit noisy. There were actually a couple of scooters that came up on the sidewalk also. At least it was only a couple! Anyway, we made it to the place.
Today we had decided was hamburger day. The place – Easy Burger, chosen because of another You tuber had mentioned it – actually he called it his “go-to burger place”. We looked at the menu, and each chose a burger and shared a large order of fries. We sat and took in the surroundings as we waited. The eatery is nestled in with a few other eateries and bars. It is pretty empty right now – there are a few customers, but we both see this as a night time spot. Anyway, our food came. One burger was 'BBQ Bacon- Easy burger sauce, double American cheese slice, bacon, onions, pickled jalapenos & BBQ sauce with a kick'. The other burger was 'West Coast- Patty grilled in yellow mustard, grilled onions, Easy burger sauce, onions, pickles & lettuce. both were super great and finally satisfied our hamburger cravings! The establishment makes their own buns and they are like a soft, semi-sweet, brioche-type bread. Their special Easy sauce was spot on as well. The mound of crinkle fries were hot and salted well. We relished our food, eating it quickly – you would have thought we were starving!
After we finished we went to a Lotus store in a mall that was on the way and picked up salad makings for dinner. Well, because after that lunch… Anyway, we now walked back to our place. It was heating up some, but all in all, the temperature has been very doable here in Bangkok, during the “rainy” season. Thankfully we have not been out but one time when it rained, and that was a light rain. We passed by the filling station where the gas nozzles are “floating” in the air connected to the awning above, Which the gasoline comes from. It's just crazy to look at as I am not used to it at all!! We also pass by some Buddhist and Hindi temples which reminds us we are “not in Kansas anymore,” in case we had forgotten.
Back at our place, we settled in for the afternoon/evening. Watched some You tube and had our salad (with peanuts to give it a Thai flair) for supper.
