Bangkok- Foodie Fun #20

–August 4,

Today we awoke and readied to go to church. We made it for the 1100 am service at ECB around 1040. We did not see our previous families: the one from Virginia, or one from the Pakistan. While were looking around for them, a lady came up and introduced herself. She mentioned, “This is your third time?” Well, yes it was and nice of her to notice. She and I talked very briefly, as Jeff sent a WhatsApp to our Pakistani brethren. We waited but did not hear back from them before service. So we went into the building and silenced our phones. As we go in and upstairs to the worship room, there are three posters: Rooted in the Word, Fueled by Prayer, and Empowered by the Spirit. Amen!

It was another packed service. The worship band was a compilation of the two previous weeks. We also shared in a communion service with over 400 brethren! The main message was part three of a series that we have been able to hear since the beginning. Again it was very thought provoking and great spiritual food. If we come back to Bangkok for any length of time, this will be where we will attend service. God is so good!

Now we looked again for the Pakistani family, but nothing- not even a WhatsApp. So we went to the BTS and took it to lunch. We went back to Devilish, the American BBQ place we ate at just two days ago. We even sat at the same table as before! We ordered. First, we had an appetizer of fried okra with a homemade ranch sauce. We had the one main we had before– the smoked brisket… which goes without saying, one of our all time comfort foods, and they do it so well here. We also had another main– 1/4 Rotisserie Chicken with sides of rosemary, garlic potatoes and sauce; garden salad; and a ladle of delicious chicken gravy and a small spicy sauce. Food was just as amazing as before. They staff had recognized us from before, and Jeff said the main guy had remembered Jeff's name! That's customer service! We had left overs and they packaged them for us!!

Anyway, we heard from the Pakistani family and they came to meet us one last time at a BTS station stop near them after we ate lunch. God blessed us and we were able to fulfill a request they had asked. We hugged our brethren and wished them well. We will definitely be praying for them. Now we took the BTS back to our place.

We relaxed and watched some You tube. Supper was popcorn. We were able to talk with and see my mom and her husband, and then see and chat briefly with brethren back home. Blessed day!

—August 5,

We started the day talking with my sister. Then a light breakfast of our “javas,” cookies, and yogurt. Then we attempted to talk with Jeff's sister, but will have to be tomorrow. So we readied and went out for foodie fun lunch.

We decided to go for Brisket Soup! So caught the BTS and then a bus to get in the proximity of the restaurant. We enter China town and pass by another gate and a great looking temple. It takes us one hour and 15-ish minutes to get there. We arrived at around 1230, and the place was busy! The owner saw us, he remembered us and he welcomed us. The table we had sat at before opened up and we sat there – that was like a Deja vu moment from yesterday. Anyway, we both ordered the Brisket Soup, but Jeff added meatballs to his. We did not add rice. His soups are just incredible! Simple but yet complex! Just the smell is great! We ate like we were starving and finished our meal in like 20 minutes. Then we did the trek of 1hour and 15-ish minutes back to our place! So two and a half hours in transit for a 20 minute meal😮. 🤔… But it was SO worth it!! 😋😋😋

We did stop and get a Coco-Cocoa shake from the Coco Monkey. At our place went for a swim and watched You tube, then ate supper of our yummy leftovers from yesterday with some extra rice. Then went to bed early.
