Agadir, Day 4
June 1st
Awoke, after a less than ideal nights sleep for me, but these are more the abnormal. (Yahoo, for the little things!)
We readied and did a load of laundry! So excited. 🙁 But needs to be done. Jeff has booked us places with a little six-seven kilo (13-15 lb) washing machine capacity. No drying machine, but mother nature. the machine takes about 2hrs (it has an efficient spin cycle, so drying doesn't take as long). We took our time getting around, and the clothes were done, so we took them to the roof. There's a clothes line, and lots of of sunshine.
We left and walked to the Souk El Had, which is a permanent, local and tourist market. The closest thing to compare to would be a farmer's market back home. They have everything! Household supplies; clothes; fresh produce; and spices, ectara, and so forth (to name a few). Jeff haggled for a dress for me – then we drank mint tea, to seal the deal. He also bartered for some olives, fresh produce and nuts. We enjoyed the experience, because we weren't crushed for time and just some “fellowship” with locals so to speak. We left, and since we were loaded down, decided to go to the local convivence store – so to speak, and bought couple of essentials we had forgotten from the hypermart.
Arrived back at apartment and cooled off!! Shopping is such hard work, don't ya know! We bought our clothes in and had lunch: cucumber, tomato, and red onion salad with olive oil, lemon and seasonings. Yum! Then had pistachios and a date each. Hit the spot.
That was pretty much our allotment for today. Supper was leftover chicken with cous-cous and seasonings; next – watermelon and some more pistachios. We also had more Moroccan wine – 3rd different kind, but still not a fan (there's a reason their wine is not available back home, just sayin').
We went back to the roof for sunset – I put on my dress! There was a nice breeze, as it is said where we're from. 🙂
