Transition Day

September 6,
We awoke and got up by 0700. We readied and repacked. We did hear cannons or fireworks fired. From our window, we could see the parade… it was more of a procession, really. As we were doing this we watched the Chiefs football game. It’s the first NFL game televised on YouTube this year and it took place in Sao Paulo, Brazil to boot!! That was pretty much the coolest part of the game… and well, Kelce did score a TD. Anyway, enough on that. We went down to the lobby around 0910 and only ordered take-away drinks. No breakfast for us today as we will be in a lounge shortly. I had a Milk Iced Tea and Jeff had an Iced Milo.
By 0920, we were going to the airport by Jubilee Hotel van transport. There was still a bunch of traffic, unusual for Brunei. But this is probably because the Sultan was supposed to have participated in the event happening today. After 20 to 25 minutes we arrived at the airport. Our flight was not scheduled until noon, but there is a lounge. We checked in our bags through both flights and got paper boarding passes for both flights. All set, we went through security. The lounge was not too bad. The food was okay. There was a nice cheese platter and good coffee.
We left the lounge by 1130 – our plane was late arriving. We boarded by noon – when we were supposed to have taken off. It was a no trouble flight, except for some turbulence. We got lunch! This surprised us both. We had chicken pasta and red wine. Our plane touched down at 1427. We were in Singapore for a long layover! At 1436, we were at our gate to disembark.
We explored Singapore Airport. I absolutely love this airport!! We have basically a seven hour layover. First we checked out stuff in this terminal, T2. There was a glass topped fish pond you could walk on; The Sunflower Garden, that was outdoors; and the Enchanted Garden of Orchids, that was large glass & mosaic pieces, filled with orchids. Next we went to terminal 3. We visited the Butterfly garden, with many active butterflies; the Cactus Garden, also outside, and unfortunately a smoker’s place; and lastly the Water Lily Garden – also unfortunately a smoker’s place and was overwhelmingly filled with smoke.
Now we passed time in two different lounges: one for practically three hours, as this is the max; the other was in another terminal. I forgot which terminal that was because we had to shuffle to find an open lounge. This is the first time we have run across this. We needed to have reservations to enter!
Anyway, at 2030 the boarding began. It is a big aircraft with lots of people! But the plane backed up four minutes early at 2126! Lift off was at 2140. We were offered the same food service, but we were both full and it was 2200! Way too late to eat!! At 2345 we landed.
WELCOME TO BALI, INDONESIA!!!
We disembarked and I went through scanning of my passport fine but not Jeff. He was denied!? He had to go through a long line. Found out he flipped the month and day of his birthday on his e-visa. So he had to pay $30 for a new visa, and he got a stamp in passport. I did not because of the scanning procedure. But this is good as my passport is filling up. So at 0007,( now September 7) I was at baggage claim. But received no bags before Jeff got through his long line and joined me… waiting, and waiting. We finally got our last bag at 0110! A new record wait time of an hour and three minutes. We exited, showing the last form for our required entry.
We found our pick-up transportation and were underway by 0117. We arrived at our place, D’Home; and checked in by 0147. We crashed.
