Chiang Mai, Thailand #40

July 4,
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!
Hope everyone back in America has a celebration day, BBQ, and lots of fireworks gazing! Our day was productive! We were up and about by 0630, and by 0745 we were out the door. I had a 0800 appointment at Chiang Mai Ram Hospital for bloodwork. By 0840 my blood was drawn and then we went for breakfast, finally using the Starbucks gift cards we were given over a month ago. We spit a Bacon Cheese Quiche, a Chicken Mushroom Pie, a Lemon Madeline, and an Espresso Dark Brownie. I had a Caffe Americano and Jeff had a Hot Chocolate. The total was 652 THB ($20.16), with the cards covering 600 of it!
After we finished eating, we went half a block to the outpatient clinic, to see about getting our 2nd Hep B shots. They were scheduled for tomorrow, but we are here now… Success! We were able to get them. We had a bit of a wait, but not as long as sometimes at clinics/Dr’s offices.
Now we left the clinic and walked back to the hospital, maybe a couple of blocks. I checked in and had my follow-up with the endocrinologist regarding my bloodwork. Mostly looked better. Yeah!!! He did ask about my cast – he’s the only one who did. Surprised me actually. Anyway, as we left he told me to be careful. Understatement! But it was nice and I agreed and thanked him.
We loaded up in the Yaris, decided to go to a car wash for the Yaris – it’s gotten very dirty! The man at the wash said 40 minutes, so we walked to the closest, smallest mall with a small convenience/grocery store. Items in hand we went back to our condo as we weren’t far from it, unloaded and back to the car wash. The Yaris was ready and looked great, gleaming as it sat out in a bit of sunshine. It cost a total of 300 THB ($9.28) with a tip. Last errand, we went to a local Decathlon Store. Jeff found one replacement shirt, and I found two.
Then we went back to our condo for the rest of the day. We had a lunch of pasta with sausage, mushrooms, black olives, and onions. We also had a Cab Shiraz and the last of our olive bread. I blogged and Jeff read. He also figured our total mileage on the Yaris… 2,000 miles over 29 days. Not too bad! Tomorrow he will turn the Yaris back in. Supper was Greek salad, and some pretzels.
July 5,
We both slept well! Yeah, for small blessings! Up and around we had our Javas and breakfast of Muesli, yogurt, and an apple. We started our last load of laundry here. Then Jeff set off to return the car. The car rental is at the Chiang Mai Airport. He returned by 1015, said there was not any problem and that they were happy with us having the car washed. I had started sorting stuff because we leave Thailand tomorrow.
For lunch we had set out for some Kao Soi, but Rywin’s Cafe was closed! So we went back to our condo and had the last of our Greek salad, sausage, and fruit salad. Oh boy, we were stuffed! I guess it was a good thing the restaurant was closed, because we had plenty of food here! I blogged some. Jeff read. We folded our freshly laundered clothes. Then we had cheese and pretzels for supper. Lastly we watched a movie.
