Chiang Mai, Thailand #38

July 1,
0700 Up and about, having our Javas, and then breakfast of Muesli, yogurt and dried strawberries. We watched YouTube, getting caught up on some of our favorites. Jeff’s knee is looking good- with less swelling. He says it still twinges a good amount with a wrong step or twist. Morning came and went. I blogged and Jeff read.We also did a load of laundry.
Around 1300, we went out. First, we stopped at a pharmacy for ibuprofen and my cholesterol medicine. The cholesterol medicine they had was the brand name only, which was 800 THB, or almost $25, more than the generic one!! WHAT!?! I politely declined and left and returned to the car. (Jeff hadn’t come in due to parking issues.) Humph!
So we went for lunch! We wanted hamburgers!! Jeff located the top rated place, called The Beast Burger. I had a Chipotle Bacon BBQ hamburger which is the patty, cheddar cheese, double bacon, onion rings, and Chipotle barbecue sauce with a side of tater tots. Jeff had the Creamy Blue Cheese which was the patty, Gorgonzola blue cheese sauce, caramelized onion and pickled red cabbage with a side of sweet potato fries. We shared a small bottle of water. The hamburgers were super great! 👍🏻😊😋 The bill came to 695 THB, or $21.41.
Now we attempted another pharmacy. Jeff looked up some bigger pharmacies, and we went to one close by. He was able to find parking this time so we both went in. The sales lady pulled out three brands of my medicine, not the same as mine, but at least she had a better variety. I went with the cheapest one she had, which was 1.5 times the price – but not 4 times! We also got some ibuprofen as Jeff has been taking this for his knee and me occasionally for my hand.
Then we went back to our place and relaxed. Supper was light- a salad, baguette, and cheese.

We were up and about again around 0700 that seems to be our time. Jeff was excited because his knee felt quite a bit better. We had our Javas, and breakfast of Muesli, yogurt, and an apple. The weather outside was frightful-hahaha. It wasn’t that bad but it was gloomy and looked like it could rain as always, anytime.
We hemmed and hawed but finally decided to go out. We got in our little Yaris. As we were heading to the temple on the mountain overlooking Chiang Mai, the clouds were very dark and it was raining there… sooo, change of plans. We decided to go for some Kao Soi for lunch. We went back to the Rywin Cafe that we had discovered 5 weeks ago. It is not far from where we are staying! We had Tom Sum (Papaya salad), Koa Soi with chicken, and Grilled Pork Neck with a spicy dipping sauce. I had peach tea, Jeff had a Chang. The place had been very busy so we had a little wait. The owner apologized but he said “It’s all fresh made.” I love it! He did not remember us and we did not expect him to. but I think he was a little disappointed with himself that he didn’t remember us. When we finished we paid the bill, which was 385 THB, or $11.88.
We went back to our condo, and had a siesta. Afternoon turned into evening as Jeff worked on saving our pictures so we can clear space on our phones. We had supper: a fruit salad- apple, pineapple, and the last of the dried strawberries in a creamy dressing; some cheddar cheese; and pretzels. Evening was watching some YouTube and movies.
