Chiang Mai, Thailand #11

May 27,
It was good we got some food blogs in over the previous few entrees, because… These next three days were about prep for our colonoscopies and the procedures!
We awoke and had our Javas and breakfast of scrambled eggs with last of our fish sausage and onions. Jeff starts his bowel prep this evening so he has decided to just fast after this meal. (Less going in means less to force evacuate.)😝😂🤣
Anyway, we just hung out at the condo. I had PB & J sandwiches on walnut bread for the rest of my meals today. Jeff started the prep at 1700 as per the instructions…
May 28,
I digress here…
Happy Birthday to my mother!!!
We were up and about. I had a leisurely morning with Coffee, scrambled eggs on last of our walnut bread. Jeff could not eat as he his finishing his colonoscopy prep. Surprisingly, he did not start having the-stay-in-the-bathroom status until the around 0300ish. But I can tell he’s “punkish” this morning, and for good reason.
Anyway, at 1000 we hired a Grab taxi and went to Chiang Mai Rai Hospital. Our 1020 arrival was early for his procedure at 1100. Jeff went back at 1033, after changing into yellow top and bottoms. At 1037 I went down to the Ortho-department to have question answered about my Vitamin D. I was on overload last week and was not quite sure the dosage. The staff said my doctor was not in but he will be tomorrow and can call me. There was only one floor difference, but they were busy in the Ortho area and it took about fifteen minutes. I went quickly back to the Gastro-intestinal area so I would not miss Jeff or the doctor results, but Jeff did not come out until 1237. He said he was late going in for the actual scope. He changed out of the yellow medical PJ’s and one of the staff served him a light snack of some instant porridge, a small Milo drink, and small water. Then we sat and waited for the doctor to give us Jeff’s results… Finally, at 1315 we were called into the doctor’s office. The results were positive.👍🏻 Yay!! … All’s well that ends well.🙄😂
We were escorted down to the cashier and paid the bill. Then we E-hailed a Grab back to our place. Once back I walked to the closest 7Eleven, getting couple of bananas, rice, and generic bread… Soft stuff for Jeff now and for me tomorrow. Then Jeff eat a bit more, and had a well deserved nap. I began my bowel prep, opting to start a couple of hours early, since my procedure time is 2.5 hours early than Jeff’s was. Well, I started having immediate cleansing results, unlike Jeff. Humph!! But I was able to get some early sleep at 2030.
May 29,
I woke at 0030, and that was pretty much it. So I did the “morning of” prep early. I was definitely cleansed… Not anything else to say here, except I am “punkish,” puny, and pitiful. Jeff got up around 0600 and had a PB & J for breakfast with his hot chocolate. We readied and repeated a Grab taxi to the hospital at 0730; arrived at 0750; and I went back by 0800. I changed into their yellow PJ’s and gave Jeff a smooch and my key for the locker with my clothes. I was taken to the pre/post-recovery area. A nurse started my IV, hooked up some fluids, after she drew blood. Then I waited. Finally around 0900, I was taken into a procedure room, hooked up to a monitor, introduced to the Anesthesiologist, and assisted to my left side. Then my next awareness… I was back in the recovery room and it was 0930. Crazy!! Anyway the nurse came and said she could take me to the bathroom when I needed. I thought I said yes I was ready, but she misunderstood and went away. So I sat up and caught a housekeeper who got the nurse back. She then took off the BP cuff (after two more BP’s), out the IV, and assisted me off the gurney. I walked out to Jeff and got my key to change back into clothes.
When I came back out I had my porridge, Milo, and water waiting. I finished and pretty much was called to the doctor for the results. Again a positive result!! Yahoo!👍🏻 Then we were escorted down to the cashier… same, same, but different. Mine cost a bit more… don’t know why… Questions???
We hired another Grab taxi back. Today will be laid back and I’m gonna close here… the saga of Colonoscopies in Chiang Mai closes!
