Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Manila, Philippines #38

     May 7,

Awoke and discovered we both slept good again… well, it can happen, and it did! Yay!!! We both looked out the window of our balcony – Yikes! It was not as bad as yesterday, but the air quality was a close second to yesterday. Yuck-squared! The drizzle was not enough last night! So we got around; had our Javas; and breakfast of oatmeal and yogurt. We watched some YouTube since we did not want to go outside in the miserable air pollution. We will leave Manila and the Philippines tomorrow. Jeff did try to fix my CPAP (fingers crossed)

Finally, at lunchtime we went to the mall right close to us. We knew what we wanted. We went to Arya Persian Restaurant. We shared a Fasi Salad- Romaine lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, feta cheese, capers, and olives with an olive oil dressing; and a Lamb Biryani with Biryani Rice. Both were excellent and hit our spots. The Lamb was so tender and big cubes in a mildly spicy sauce (soup like) served with a rice, peanuts, and raisins. We ate and relished our meals! I had a lemonade and Jeff had a mango juice. The whole meal cost us 1,510 PHP, which is $27.25. It was a bit pricey, but so worth it!

Now we walked in the mall to get some steps in. This mall is a four story jobber and has the Robinson grocery, department, appliance… etc., stores anchoring the mall. They must have five store fronts. Anyway, we walked and checked out some tech shops for changes/upgrades we will be doing… just getting prices and shopping as we are getting steps. We passed the little – and I mean little – comb shop. It just is selling wood combs! Crazy! It is probably only five/six foot by a two foot depth. We have never seen anyone looking at the combs. Just glancing I’ve don’t recall any price tags.

As we were winding up our walk about we noticed the mall seems more busy than normal. We came to the main entry/exit… it was pouring down rain. The heavens have finally opened up!!! We remembered seeing an abandoned umbrella back up on the fourth floor, so with no where to go we back up there… it was gone. Maybe the owner remembered where it was left. Where the umbrella had been left is a doggy spot in the mall. A couple was there with their dog – was the umbrella theirs?? I did not see it so who knows. We got to pet the dog. But this leads me to the fact that people walk their dogs about in the mall… wearing diapers! I am not kidding! It is bizarre!! Different cultures- different stroke for different folks! Anyway, we walked about more and waited out the rain. The rain finally let up and we went back to our place.

We just hung out and Jeff did some more comparison shopping. We watched more YouTube. The afternoon turned to evening and we had a light supper of our last mango, some bread, and popcorn with red wine, while watching a movie. Then I blogged as Jeff read.
