Koh Tao, Thailand #25

February 9,
We both awoke and had our Javas and breakfast of Muesli, yogurt, and milk. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned our milk over here is shelf stable, meaning we often find it on the shelves and not in the refrigerated section. Anyway, we watched some YouTube and morning turned to lunchtime.
We went out walking for lunch at Naa Krua Thai Restaurant. Our dive guide, Jacob, had mentioned this place to us. He lives here, obviously. He had given us a couple of recommendations. It is more local place, not tourist place, and seems to be run by a couple with their son of ten years old(?) being the wait staff. We ordered Onion Rings; Potato Salad; Stir-fried Chicken with Ginger; and an order of rice. I had watermelon shake, Jeff had coconut shake. Everything was supper great. We enjoyed it all, but loved the shakes!
Finished we went back to our place and took a swim. The pool is divided into three sections: a kiddie shallow one, a large section that is 4 feet deep, and the last one is a smaller and 8 feet deep. Afternoon turned to evening and we just had a light supper in our room. We went back out and enjoyed sunset in the sea. Then we talked with my mom and later chatted with our church members back home.
February 10,
Today we got up at 0600 to watch the Superbowl… and that’s all I’m going say of that disappointing game! 😢😭 We had our Javas and our normal breakfast during the halftime show.
We went out around 1030 to do laundry. The place was busy! We had to wait on a washing machine, only ten minutes, but this launderette has the most machines we have seen in quite some time. We started the machine- it read 52 minutes to complete. We were looking our watches and trying to figure return time to transfer it to the dryer, when the attendant approached us and said she would do it if we wanted – for a fee of 60 cents! Well, for that price why not! She said return in 2.5 hours or before five o’clock. Alrighty!!
We did not talk with our sisters due to their schedules being full, so we continued on for a walkabout. We checked out where we will board our ferry to leave Koh Tao tomorrow. It was actually 24 hours away, so we saw the same ferry loading that we will take tomorrow. That was very convenient. We went to Have A Nice Day Barber, so Jeff could get a hair trim. It cost 300 Baht ($8.79). Finally, we went to Naa Krua Thai Restaurant for lunch, but we only had shakes – just not hungry. I had the watermelon and Jeff had the coconut. We crossed the street for snacks at the 7-Eleven, and then back to our place to eat the snacks and watched some YouTube. Around 1330 we went back out and picked up our laundry – the attendant was folding it up. I did not expect that.
Back to our place, put our clean clothes away, and we went for a swim. It was so nice and cool! The rest of the afternoon was siesta/relaxation time. For supper we went back to the 7-Eleven, because in their parking lot is a food night market. We found a food stand called Uncle Ben Turkish Doner Kebab. We both had a small chicken kebab wrap and split an order of fries. Yumm… so good.
Finished we went back to our place and took in a great sunset. Then we watched a movie.
