Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Koh Samui, Thailand#18

     January 31,

Around and about. We had our Javas and breakfast of Muesli, yogurt and milk. We were both a little bit sore and tired from our past two days hiking. So it was a laid back day. We watched some YouTube, especially podcasts analyzing the Chiefs… Patrick Mahomes being the GOAT?; Chiefs being a dynasty?; Will the Chiefs 3-peat?; to yada, yada, yada. So much speculation going on. All I know is I’m happy to see them play so well.

Anyway, morning passed on to lunch time. We have plans for a big supper so we ate light – having watermelon, and sourdough bread with PB and honey. We did our resistance bands and a light swim in the ocean followed by the pool. Jeff likes to swim in the ocean. I have found I would rather have SCUBA on and dive than just swim… swimming for me seems to be the pool.

Before we knew it was evening and time to go out. We left around 1800. We went to Fi Greek Restaurant. It was their Friday Night Buffet. When we arrived, only a couple of other people were already there. The maitre d(?) sat us. Then he and a lady (his wife?) set up the buffet as others came in. He broke away to welcome them – some with hugs. Jeff had asked if the owner had come or if they had Retsina. Unfortunately the answer was no.☹️

Anyway, the buffet was ready to go. The table looked awesome! There were dipping sauces X3 w/ awesome pita- tzatziki, hummus, & eggplant vinaigrette; Greek salad; Santorini Cheese Rolls (Deep fried Filo stuffed with Feta and veggies); Zucchini Patties; Spinach and Feta Filo Pies; Lamb Casserole; Moussaka; Braised Pork w/ lemon potatoes; Soutzoukakia (Little kebabs of beef/lamb in wine-tomato sauce); Souvlaki Kebabs – Chicken and Beef Skewers; and finally – if you need them – French fries. It was a fantastic spread of so many Greek foods, and a great sampling to our recollection. The only thing I would have liked to have seen would have been some Baklava, but it was not necessary (probably why they do not include it). We split a small carafe of the white wine and a small water. I think we both went back for samplings three times. So, so good!!!😋😋😋  Jeff actually mentioned he would come back to Koh Samui just for this restaurant! We finished sadly. The bill was 1200 Baht ($35.51).

We walked across the street to the Big C mall for stuff. Then scooted back on our Little Honda to our place. That meal made our day.

     February 1,

We awoke and had our morning Javas and breakfast of eggs with onion, garlic, and Blue cheese with sourdough toast. The time we thought of going for a walk on the beach it was close to high tide, so we did not go for a mid morning stroll.

Around noon, we went out for lunch. We had our local crispy pork place in mind, but sadly it was not open. Jeff found an alternate on Google, but it was closed as well. Because of an extended Chinese New Year(??)… I don’t know but I have questions!? We came to our chocolate place and got some extra chocolate bars to take with us for our future chocolate fixes. We kept our eyes open for a new lunch place. Jeff saw D-Anchor Cafe. We checked it out and stayed. We had Stir-fried Chicken Curry Paste with Fried Egg; and Green Curry Fried Crispy Chicken. Both were great Thai dishes. Jeff had a Coconut Smoothie, and I had a Strawberry Smoothie. Our bill was 460 Baht ($13.61). It was somewhat more local pricing, and a good lunch.

Now we headed back home, unloaded, and had a siesta. Afternoon came and went. We went for a walk on the beach around sunset and just took it in as well as life. We actually saw a wedding happening on the beach – as I said Life Happenings.

Back home we had a light supper of a Greek salad and last of our sourdough bread with Blue cheese or last of the spicy sauce from our rotisserie chicken with sesame dressing. Another nice day on Koh Samui!
