Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Da Lat, Vietnam #57

     December 21,

Awoke, up and around. We had our Javas and French Toast this morning for breakfast. We did not have any cinnamon or spices to add to the egg mix, but we had the mango and cinnamon puree/jam to put on them. Jeff put Nutella on his third piece and I had PB. It was good as it had been a bit since we made that.

After 1100, we set out, but we mixed it up. With it being Saturday there were a bunch more people doing the same trek. But the roads were congested with so many more scooters and cars and buses… it was a zoo of human movement. We went into the little park beside us and then we actually reversed our route, because we wanted to stop by the Go mall and see about a movie first. The cinema is showing the live action/animated Mufasa at 1200. It was in English so we bought tickets and a mixed popcorn of cheese and caramel. It was 1130, but they won't let you in until right at show time. So we sat waiting and ate all the popcorn. At 1157, they finally opened to let us in. Crazy! But the movie was great – lasting 2 hours. I really liked the life action – Jeff was mixed on it though. The movie tickets cost us 140,000 Dong ($ 5.50) — that is only $2.75 for the both of us. I can not remember how much the popcorn was.

When we finished, we walked the rest of the way around the loop of the lake. We noticed the place we thought was being taken down was not, and seemed to still be being worked on(?). We have no idea what is going on there. Anyway, we completed the lap and arrived back at our place. We did some more planning of next year and ironing things out. I blogged and late afternoon – early evening – we made some pesto, bacon pasta.

At 1910, we set out. We were all decked out in double layering of clothes – even having my scarf and sarong – as it is 61 degrees out and we will be sitting outside. We were going to the free concert that is at the Go mall. It has an outdoor, large amphitheater. The main road had actually been blocked off. There was a sizable crowd for the performance. The performers were Samantha Fox, that I mentioned before; Joy, an Austrian pop band; and Liz Mitchell with Boney M, a Jamaican Group. The performances were in this order. They are all older performers from the 80's.

Samantha Fox is one year older than me, 58. She did her set of pop disco music. I did recognize one song she did, a remake of “I Only Wanna Be With You.” I bounced and sang along with it. It was fun and helped keep me warmer that Jeff. (LOL emoji)!! Next was Joy – a two man band. their music is listed as Eurobeat. They also had one song I recognized “Night of the Nights.” Last was Liz Mitchell and Boney M. Liz was an original singer of Boney M, a disco/reggae group from the 1970's. She is 72 years old. Anyway, their set had a two songs I recognized: a remake of “Sunny”, which they had done in 1976; and “Rivers of Babylon”, from 1979. That completed their set. This Vietnamese audience was taking in all three sets. Liz started another song, but we left. We were both cold and it was 2200.

As we walked back we were surprised at people setting up small cooking fires off on the grass and on the path this side of the lake. We both had questions with this. Anyway, it was a good day, thank you DaLat.
