Da Lat, Vietnam #56

December 20,
Yeah, more sunshine!!! We got up and about, having our Javas and breakfast of bacon & tomato sandwiches. The morning is actually a bit chillier it seems, than it has been. We waited for it to warm a bit and then went for a walkabout around the lake.
We set out, noticing there seem to be more people about as we come into the weekend. Da Lat is way more touristed on the weekends. We just took in the the views and flowers with some people watching. One area that we had been seeing built up for this festival is already being taken down! It was a tent area with stalls(?). We assumed it would be a market area. HUH?? This surprised us as it was at least a three to four day build up. We had noticed that yesterday it seemed to have been completed, but there was not any action going on inside. Jeff surmised that maybe it was a private/corporate happening. Questions??, of course. 🤣 We will never know. We have tried to find an events listing for the Da Lat Spring Festival of flowers and music – because, well that would be useful – but we have never been successful.
We went to our mall to see a movie, but they changed the times.🤦🏻♀️ So plans changed we got some groceries, and finished our walk back at our place. We made a light lunch of pan roasted peppers with various toppings of minced red onions, Kalamata olives, unripe mango slivers, fresh mint, laughing cow cheese, gouda and/or smoked cheese. It was fun and good. We even used some of the curry powder that we made at Rosie's cooking class in Sri Lanka. Yes, we still have some of it! And yes, it is still good & fragrant!! Every time I open the curry I think of Rosie, fondly.
Then we spent the afternoon- blogging, reading, sorting out more plans for next year. Jeff still amazes me when he plans, how much he remembers going back and forth comparing and contrasting. I have trouble retaining/recalling all that info… maybe that is why I don't like planning, and I settle too easily. Anyway, vie la difference.
When we were ready for supper, when went back out. We walked over to Ty Crepe. Jeff had gotten us take away from here the last time we were in Da Lat. When we walked in, the French owner came up to give us the menu. He recognized and remembered Jeff. Anyway, we ordered two set menus of one savory crepe, one sweet crepe. For my savory, I had La Super Complete which included sunny side up egg, bacon, Emmental cheese, onion, and mushroom all wrapped in a crepe. For my sweet, I had La Bretagne which was a crepe folded around apple slices and topped with homemade Butter Caramel, whipped topping and a scoop of coconut ice cream. Jeff's choices: La Saucice which included sausage, onion, bell peppers, and Emmental cheese; and La Fraise, a crepe folded around the strawberries – which are a staple around here – topped with chocolate drizzle and whipped cream. We shared and swapped our food, of course. It was light but surprisingly filling and very good. I had a different cider here called Dalat Cider, that I liked. It can be frustrating all the different drinks you get, because you like it and can not find it again! We paid 395,000 Dong ($15.52).
Now we went back to our place and watched the movie Always on the TV through our laptop. It was from 1999, and was fun to rewatch. Another good day!!
