Nha Trang, Vietnam #49
December 10,
Up at 0700, and my back feels good! 👍! We had our Javas and breakfast of Muesli and yogurt/milk. The day is very overcast and drizzly, we can not even see the mountains! It might as well be raining. I blogged as Jeff planned and read.
Around 1300, we booked a Grab taxi and went out for lunch. We went to Livin Restaurant… “a casual restaurant deep-rooted in the standards of American barbecue.” It smelled as a BBQ smokehouse place should. We ordered a Brisket French Onion Soup; a Beef Pastrami Plate with homemade sauerkraut, bread & butter pickles, & Dijon mustard; and a Beef Brisket Plate with roasted vegetables, a Chimichurri sauce, & a house BBQ sauce. I had a glass of Cab Sav – Concha Y Toro, Chilean wine 🍷. Jeff had a craft Beer – 7 Bridges Beach Blonde Ale. Super fine meal!!! The last real pastrami we had – was Jeff's homemade… over two years ago!🤯 Total cost of this meal was 1,312,000 Dong ($51.72). Pricey, but it was well worth the money!!
When we finished we hired another Grab taxi back, because well – it's raining… again or still! This is too bad, as it's only 0.8 of a mile distance to our place. We were let out at the mall – the frontside of our building, so we went in and strolled through the mall – all 7 stories – to get steps and check it all out. Then we went to the grocery store and bought drinks and water. Then back out and to the side to get to our place. This is super convenient ever though we have to go outside briefly in the drizzle. Now we settled in – I blogged more and Jeff planned more.
Around 1800 we had a very light supper of bread & a great Cheddar cheese (it was imported from England) and an apple with an “okay” Cab Sav from Chile. We just relaxed this evening as was still drizzling outside, but can see small bits of the mountains around Nha Trang now. Maybe it is clearing some. Bed by 2130.
December 11,
Neither one of us slept well last night. We both were up at 0100. Jeff said the power went out, so his CPAP stopped working. Then discovered the CPAP was not working! It was not power outage. We couldn't go back to sleep for quite some time. Around 0300, I could here a neighbor's washing machine somewhere close. Really?!? So early, way earlier than I would do laundry. And it's louder than I would have thought, maybe because machines are on the balconies?? I don't know, and these are questions I should not be thinking of at 3AM!! Anyway around 0430, I was able to go back to sleep. Jeff went back to sleep a bit also – I don't know when. We both awoke and got up at 0730. We looked out to discover total overcast – you could still see the beach, but could barely make out the islands and definitely no visible horizon. There was also a steady rain going on, not drizzle, but out right rain. Ho-hum, so glum!! I took a picture out through the balcony-jail-like, barred railing. That's some of how I feel, captive due to the weather.
Anyway for breakfast, I mixed it up this morning, having tea instead of coffee. Jeff still had his hot chocolate. We fried up some bacon and had mini sandwiches with the last of our bread. When we finished breakfast, Jeff went out – he needed to to have his CPAP checked out. I started this blog. I hope he stays dry! ☔🌧️
Around1230, he was heading home. Jeff walked in… he did not stay dry – about hips down, he was all wet. I felt bad! But, good news… someone fixed his CPAP! It was the “brick” in the power supply. A worker took it apart and tinkered it into working!! Jeff said he was only charged $6!!🤯 The worker worked on it 1.5 hours! Amazing, but crazy! Back home we would just have order another power supply. No one would have worked on it. As soon as he dried out some, we went down and into the mall. Thankfully it is only few yards to get in the mall. We went up to the seven floor food court and decided on Pho Ngon for lunch. We ordered a Bun Cha Hanoi – pork belly, pork meat, and small pork patties with rice noodles & dipping sauce; Fried Spring rolls with dipping sauce; and Jeff had a beer/me a 7UP. It was light but filling. Finished we went to the Lotte grocery mart. We bought pasta fixin's for dinner and breakfast stuff.
It is still raining, most we have experienced for this duration. I blogged some. Jeff took a nap with his now working CPAP, but after 30 minutes I heard a snap or pop and his CPAP quit! UH OH!!!😮😦
To be continued…
