I did not sleep well last night. I dreamt about WORK!!! Today marks my four year anniversary of retirement, pretty sure that is why the dreams. Also may have to do with just being in a hospital environment, two days ago. Whatever, I tossed and turned from 02 until 05, but able to get back to sleep until 0820. Readied and to breakfast. I had two fried eggs, minus one yolk, that I gave to jeff. I'm trying to stick to only three egg yolks per week! Anyway, after breakfast we did not have anywhere to be, so I vegged and Jeff planned.
Around 11-12ish, we left to go out get our steps, and explore. First, we did go and get the official copy of my e-visa. Backstory: For us to get our second SIM card, Jeff had to have his, and didn't. The phone guy had a connection with someone who was able to procure Jeff's official copy (and that was some of our 3 hrs getting that SIM). The phone guy let us keep the copy! So now we both have an official copy of our E-visas! It's crazy we should not have to have it, but we obviously do. Anyway, that task completed we just walked. I have not mentioned the lack of sidewalks here. Pedestrians walk on the side of the road where the crazy drivers have a “anything-goes” kind of approach. He who is boldest goes whenever he can! One exception: they follow traffic lights (they do not have many of these through).
Next, we went basically to the end of the peninsula, and we happened upon an art exhibition. It had displays of various artists, and it was free. The artist, Joji Mazhu – whom we enjoyed the most, worked in media of glass, specifically “shattered glass”. He had used a hammer on a big piece of laminated glass. This caused it to shatter. But the art part is he made images of faces with different emotions. It was a pretty cool concept and he did a great job.
Next we just continued on along the road along the waterfront, heading east. We found another hypermart and bought a soda. We still were not hungry enough to eat, just thirsty, due to the heat of the day. The sky was completely cloud covered, so that helped cool it down some, well a bit. From here we are covering area we have been to. We continued now south through what is known as Jew town. Arrived at the Salt hypermart and I bought more undergarments. (I wanted to make sure they would work first, before buying all I needed.) We also bought a light meal here at their snack bar. We split a chicken burger and five chicken dumpling-like balls(Momos), that had what he called gravy, but it was more like a pesto consistency of many spices/aromatics, garlic and just a tiny zing and sweet – they were so good!
We went back to our place for a much needed cool down, siesta. Our homestay tended our room while we were gone. They offer every day, but this is only the second time we took up the offer. (They also did our laundry once, it's included.)
We went back out around 530pm, in search of shawarma. We finally found some at Queen's Kitchen. We got the shawarma in a tortilla type wrap, also had a piece of King fish coated in a layer of herbs and spices, French fries, two mint lime drinks, and an oreo shake. It was all smallish portions, but was enough, and very tasty.
Back to our place, I blogged, Jeff read, he also does the proofreading and editing, FYI.
Today, was simple living, someplace else… India!
