Florianopolis, Brazil #42

September 16,
I have gotten behind so this entry may be small. As I recall, we awoke feeling good and the skies were blue! A big bonus. We ate a light breakfast of toast and jam with our Javas. Then I blogged as Jeff cleaned up the dishes.
By 1300 we set out. My knee had been doing very well and I had been resting it, so we decided to walk on the beach to lunch. The place we chose was at the outdoor food court – where we’d eaten two days before. It’s right off the beach. The walk was around 3km, or 1.8 miles. The wind was a bit cooler on the beach and there were a few people on the beach. As we progressed, there were more people and also some vendors. A couple of young entrepreneurs pushing wheelbarrows of pineapple and bagged oranges for sale. There were also a couple of carts selling ice cream and beach clothes. Along the walk there were little trickles of streams cutting the beach going to the sea, and we had to go through a boulder area. It was all good until it wasn’t! One little trickle was wider than I anticipated and I kind of step-hopped, but it was with my right knee. I tweaked it a bit! Man, that was not pleasant! We stopped and accessed the situation. We were about halfway there, and it got better. I decided to continue on. The plan had always been to catch an Uber back.
We arrived at the food court, going this time to Zein Arabian Food. We had spotted this two days ago and wanted to try it. We ordered Tabua Libano, which translated as Lebanon Table. The meal included mounds of grilled – beef, chicken, and calabrese sausage with onions; four falafel balls; fries; and pita bread with a large dish of garlic cream. It was an enormous platter of food, which we did not even try to finish. I had a coke and Jeff had a beer which cost 22 BRL, or $4.28, from a drink place next to us called Patagonia. The meal plus my coke cost 116 BRL, or $22.63. As we had them bundle up the leftovers, we bought a hummus to go with it. Jeff paid cash so we don’t remember how much the hummus cost. But we have been having trouble finding it.
Anyway, Jeff E-hailed an Uber and we went back to our place. It was an excellent meal. But my knee…well, I am back to resting it. We finished the pita with some hummus for supper, and I watched the sunset from our balcony. Jeff went back onto the beach for some pics.
