Happy 250th USA !!!
We were up and about by 0730. I made a “ribbon flower” of red ,white and blue pinning it to my shirt. It was something to remember for Independence Day. We then had our Javas with a light breakfast of toast, splitting a banana and yogurt. The bananas have been fair…they seem more “starchy.” We watched our normal YouTube videos and then some as the air quality looked bad today. The wind had kicked up and put much dust in the air. We could just make out the shape of Misty Volcano! YUCKY!
Around 1230 we went out to get some lunch. We craved rotisserie chicken, so we went to Polleria El Dorado Sazon – second time. We had ½ chicken with fries and a starter of chicken soup – same as the time before. Why mess with success, right? We also shared a bottle of water. The soccer match between Canada and Morocco was being televised in the cafe as we ate. We have been keeping tabs on the games. Jeff even got a free trial sign-in on a channel. The problem we have has been the streaming getting buffered. So mostly we just watch highlights. I am okay with this, due to the melodrama of “injured” players. Anyway, the meal was as delightful as before and the fries seemed hotter! Yay! We finished and paid 34.50 PEN or $10.13.
We left, deciding to walk through the main Plaza de Armas, as it was close. One building-side of the square has red and white striped flags and banners. The corner banners read “Por eso te llevo siempre en mi corazon,” which translates as “That’s why I always carry you in my heart.” Cool saying, but we have no reference to its representation. Questions? We went on back to our place and basically hung out due to the outside air conditions. For supper we had popcorn while trying to watch another soccer match. Bed by 2200. I heard fireworks at 2240, but this was the normal weekend event celebration popping, not r/t USA July fourth.
July 5,
We were up and around by 0630…as at 0700 we WhatsApp with my mother. She and her husband have been sick. This unfortunately caused them issues, but they are recovering. We told them about us coming back next May for a visit. After we finished, we had our breakfast of French toast and yogurt with our Javas.
The sky outside was still poor! BOO! So we hibernated inside. At ten, we Zoomed with our church service back home. It is hot back there…don’t miss that at all! We let them know our intentions of returning for a visit. After service and talking a bit more, we said our goodbyes. We stayed in for lunch, having Peruvian Pesto Pasta – try saying that fast!! 😂 Then I finished sewing the new zipper on Jeff’s pants pocket. He read. Still on passport word, but it has been the weekend – and a big one at that. Maybe, the US Embassy took the week off?
Anyway, we talked with my sister at 1530. She and her family are well…staying cool! She sent me pics of her little grandbaby! What a little cutie – I’m not biased or anything!!
Then we went for a walkabout, enjoying the cool weather here! When we returned we had a picnic-fair-type supper. Jeff’s sister was busy so will connect with her tomorrow. Ta-ta for now.
