Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Buenos Aires, Argentina #29

     March 14,

We were up and about by 0700. There was only one thing planned today…find my new batch of roasted coffee. This doesn’t sound difficult, but the reality – well, it’s a different story. Jeff was nice and shared his hot chocolate before we set out. I can have this any time- he would share it, but I prefer some good coffee. Which is funny because 20 years ago, I did not drink coffee – didn’t care for it. Anyway, we had our own version of avocado toast, more like guacamole toast. It was lovely.

Around 1000, we set out. Jeff had a time, but finally found a couple of actual roaster places. There are many coffee shops all around Buenos Aires, but many don’t roast their own beans. We arrived at the first place. The man running the place said he was out of beans😯, but will get some in next week. I went ahead and tried a cup of his coffee in case this was the only one available. It was good, but…  Once I finished, we decided to try the touristy shopping area as it was supposed to have a place and it was only a few blocks away. The shop was not there anymore. So we left.

We trekked to the other place Jeff had researched. We were getting lots of steps and the weather was nice – upper sixties. As we got close, I saw a place with bags of beans. But we went on to the one we had set out for. When we arrived – this place was busy! But they were only doing take away at the moment, and they did NOT roast their own beans!!! Humph! We left and went back to the place we had just passed, that did not advertise roasting, but is part of a company, Martinez, that does! This, lack of info, is frustrating. Anyway, they had coffees from Columbia, Brazil, and another place. From the descriptions, I chose the Columbian one. Ordered a cup – Yumm!! So we bought some for me and headed back, just strolling and taking in the different architecture that is so much a part of this city! We did stop at a couple of grocery stores.

When we got back, we had done practically 12,000 steps! We settled in and made a bread pizza from the last of a big loaf of bread we had, with two kinds of salami type meats, leftover pasta sauce and Mozzarella. It was so good!! Now, we had a laid back afternoon. Then popcorn for dinner and did a video chat with my mom and her husband.

     March 15,

We readied for the day and set about having our Javas and breakfast. I had my new coffee!😋  We had Muesli, yogurt and shared a plum. We had our Javas outside on the terrace but moved in to eat, as it got a bit toasty outside. Today was supposed to be 8 degrees warmer. Good thing, it was our connection day! We had decided to not go back to the Hillsong church…it was nice, but not for us. So it will be a stay at home day. We actually had to turn on the AC.

We did a load of laundry. Our machine is small capacity, so it seems like we are always doing a load and still have not caught up with our cold-weather gear from the cruise! Then it was time to connect with our church, back home. It was their “potluck week” after service, so we did not stay on Zoom as long after service. They seem to be doing well. Kansas’ weather was yo-yoing.  As per normal- they hit their high temperature before they all went to church!

We made our lunch – pineapple stir-fry with our homemade curry. Very yummy!! Jeff had a siesta. I started working on deleting some of my photos! I have to, as my Google account is 94% full!!! Then afternoon flew by. We connected with my sister, she is doing better! Then we had a salad, bread with EVOO for supper. Lastly, we connected with Jeff’s sister and her husband. Always good to talk with our families and friends!
