Living our dream,

 traveling the world!

Buenos Aires, Argentina #25

     March 9,

Up and about. We had to have our Javas and breakfast inside due to cooler 60’s with a strong wind. It made it seem cooler than it was! Anyway, we got around and went out by 0930.

We caught a bus, taking it to the coast near one of the airports. We passed another interesting train station. We got off the bus at a close by park area just before the airport. This park edges on the ocean. As we managed to get to the water…it is very windy!! We were surprised the ocean is very brown! Of course, it is choppy due to the wind, but why brown!?? Questions! Anyway, we walked along a promenade along the coast. There was a big restaurant, that looked like a house out over the water. It is closed, but could be an interesting place to eat. We came to the bigger than life statue of Christopher Columbus. We had seen it from a taxi before. It was larger than I thought. This statue made me question if he made it down here. I asked Google, of course. The answer was no. The statue was “a 20th gift” from Italy, “not a marker of his arrival.” I did not think he had come this far.

We arrived at the airport. Some looked familiar, but it was from a different side than we had been at – goodness – almost a month ago. Here we caught another bus. We wanted to go to a Decathlon store. But there was construction and the stop we wanted was not accessible. So the bus driver let us off at the closest place?… We passed by the stop and seemed to go on for quite a bit. When we got out he directed us to walk across a bridge…over the river and through the woods – kind of thing. Jeff scrambled and found another bus stop to go back. But this driver shook his head no. So Jeff got a Cabify. This got us there. If we’d known of the construction…

We were let out near the area that had the Decathlon. We passed a restaurant called Kansas! It was not open yet. Still, what fun! Anyway, we found the store and picked up some new shirts for both of us. Then we went next door to a large Carrefour Hypermart. We ate lunch in their food mart, sharing a Tri-color Torta, and Pulled pork BBQ Sandwich with a slice of onion baked in the bun. Right after we got our order processed it became very busy! We shared water we already had. The lunch cost us 17,400 ARS or $12.39. When we finished we shopped and picked up a few things. Now we decided to go back, and Jeff found two buses that did the job.

We arrived back and relaxed the rest of the day. We did a load of laundry to wash our new shirts. We had some chicken-spinach stuffed “cappellettis” pasta with a tomato pasta sauce and a salad. They looked more interesting than they tasted.😢

It was a good day exploring the city of Buenos Aires!
