Buenos Aires, Argentina #21
March 1,
We were both still sickly – coughing and hoarse – but improving. Jeff said he felt better when he woke up, but he down-graded to feeling the same after a couple of hours. With that being said, today was our connecting day – a bit of a challenge with our voices. But we managed. First a WhatsApp video with my mother; Zoom with our local church back in Kansas; then WhatsApp videos with my sister, and Jeff’s sister with her husband & one of their sons.
We have been good with our eating. Started the day with our Javas and Muesli; then lunch was PB & J. The peanut butter here seems to all be very liquidy- more like a soup, not the greatest. For supper, Jeff went somewhere close by and got us a Canadian Bacon and Mushroom Pizza.
I took a long nap this morning and Jeff had one in the afternoon. So it was a laid back day.
March 2,
Up and about by 0700, we finally both were feeling improved! Yay!!! We readied and set about to our Javas and oatmeal out on our fantastic balcony. This balcony was the reason we booked this place. It’s a large, lovely place and we know we be spending lots of our time here, when we are home. We did a second load of laundry and it was drying out here as well- won’t take long.
After we finished, we went out for a small walkabout. I try to get my bearings, but it takes me way longer than Jeff. We found the Constitution Plaza near us and a very large beautiful church, along the lines of Notre Dame! We also came across a big bus transfer/station, and saw a gorgeous roofline. We discovered it was an enormous train station. We went inside and it was very ornate to fit the outside roofline. This station was gargantuan and busy!
We finished exploring the station, and went into a couple of local shopping places including a Coto grocery store. We had a list, like we always do, upon arriving somewhere that we will be at for a good length of time. We found most of our stuff and went back to our place, via a stop at a local empanada place. We bought three different kinds- carne, carne picante and pollo. They were our lunch – only cost 78 cents each, and were just fuel- not bad, but not great. Then we both took a much needed siesta.
By mid afternoon, Jeff remembered to call about our replacement, compromised card. It seems the company sent the card here while we were on the Antarctic Cruise! Of course they did!! This card is now going back to the USA – as it was sent here one week ago. The person Jeff talked with, said another, newer(?) card will be sent here in 7 to 14 business days. Well, I am not holding my breath. Anyway, we then made supper of tortellini pasta with a pesto sauce, a salad and a Malbec wine. Of course we enjoyed it on our balcony!
As night settled in we went in and watched some YouTube and hit the bed by 2100. Such party animals, I know! But really it would be nice to wake-up symptom free tomorrow.
