Seville
May 10th
Today was another travel day. We left our cute little apartment (we knew it was little, but well, it was too little). Again we decided to trek to the bus station. We enjoyed Cordoba – it's a small town vibe. Caught bus at 1230 to go to Seville. It was a 2.5 hour bus trip, with the 3 stops. As soon as we left Cordoba the view was very dry, but farmland. There were fields of olive trees; wheat fields – some already harvested with the rest ready for harvesting; and fields of sunflowers. It's not unusual for me to see fields of wheat but there were some with Palm trees – that's just weird! Anyway, the highway is divided with blooming bushes of magenta, pink and white flowers (pretty sure they are Oleanders). But it is just hot out there 90 degrees.
We arrived in Seville around 3pm and trekked about one mile to our hotel (we tried to stay in the shade as much as possible). Our room is fourth floor up and feels like a suite/studio. The room is larger then our apartment, or at least seems bigger. The big 4 paned window looks across to another apartment complex over a rooftop. I feel like Jimmy Stewart in Rear Window! Anyway unloaded and started another load of laundry. Then went to the market – the next building over!! 🙂
We made our dinner–hamburgers!! But did also have Ajoblanco, which is a cold soup of blended almonds and olive oil. I was so glad to see this in the store. I have been wanting to try it. It's a specialty of this area. It was very refreshing and filling. I topped it with raisins – usually it's grapes.
We took a small siesta. then went out for sunset – around 830, sunset was at 921!! It just seems crazy late, but it was worth it. God just keeps displaying His glory!!!
